Immune

I am an orphan.  I was asleep when it happened.  When the explosion happened.  I woke up to screaming and terror.  I have no idea what happened.  The plants and trees used to be bright and colourful and the  ferris wheel used to work. The place was full of people and laughter.  Well it used to be.

African Art

A few weeks ago we created some paintings with an African sunset and a wild African animal silhouette.

"First we started off by painting the sunset using normal poster paint on a plain background.  While we were waiting for the paint to dry, we drew some silhouettes of African animals and hills on black sugar paper and cut around these outlines.  We then stuck these onto our settings.  I really enjoyed this art lesson linked to our Commonwealth topic on Africa."  Alannah

Critical Thinking linked to World Cup Mascots

This morning Primary 7  have been doing some critical thinking about the World Cup Mascots from 1966 England's Willie to 2014 Brazil's Fuleco.

We had to consider a range of questions and discuss answers and justify reasons for our answers.

"I thought my group worked well together.  We discussed our ideas but overall we were in agreement with each other and were able to present our arguments in a clear and consise way."  Niamh

These are the points we had to consider:

Which one is the most colourful? Odd One Out? Connect neighbours by shared feature.
Which are your favourite 3 and why?
Which mascot would make the best/worst pupil / teacher and why?
If you had to take parts of 4 mascots to make a new one, which mascots would you choose and why?

Angry Birds Angles

In Primary 7 this week we have been revising our knowledge of describing, naming, drawing and measuring angles.

To describe angles we have been using the vocabulary obtuse, right, obtuse and reflex.
We found a lovely PowerPoint to help explain the different sizes of angles.

We then created some Angry Bird scenes and measured the angles to sling the birds to hit the targets.

Write on!

Two weeks ago, our writing task was completely free choice. We were allowed to choose out genre and format and we are spending lots of time and effort to produce excellent pieces of work. There is a wide variety of writing including: diary entries, play scripts, comic strips, stories, news articles and reports. We started this process on 24th September and we hope to have them finished after the holidays with our best ever writing! As we have been writing, we have been thinking very carefully about all aspects of VCOP and aiming to up-level our work. We have been making good use of all our resources, including our peers, to assess and edit each draft.

We have been learning about World War 2 in many different ways and have created story boards using still images of our drama. Hopefully these will be finished before the holiday and can be added to our class Scrapbook.
